View transcript
welcome to bear jam's february vlog now although february is quite a short month we have been very busy and i have had to self-isolate but more on that later let's get to some of the work that's kept us busy last month okay man let's do it what first up a series of videos for knight frank and an online event that they're running obviously they're not doing physical events at the moment so need video content to share at these online alternatives so we went to their very quiet empty head office over in baker street to film some socially distanced interviews so when it comes to filming interviews we find that a more kind of conversational discussion tend to work better than the traditional talking head interview it kind of puts the subject more at ease they're not worrying about the lighting the camera the crew and they can just focus on the topic that they're discussing as part of the same series we also conducted a number of remote interviews we then take the footage we shot either in person or remotely we then do the edit and apply a graphic treatment to give it a kind of layer of consistency next up was a fun one and a shoot for jordan's cereal and i turned my very own kitchen once again into a studio this time a tabletop setting to show off jordan's super berry and super nut granolas like so many projects this day and age we were shooting multiple deliveries from multiple different platforms instagram facebook youtube and with each of those platforms often comes a different aspect ratio so we'd have a vertical kind of portrait shot for instagram stories and then your classic 16x9 rectangle for youtube so for this particular shoot to save time where certain shots allowed we actually had two cameras running one was set up vertical to capture those instagram story shots and then the other for 16 by nine we've got some awesome shots especially some of the really close up macro detail shots which we use the special pro blends for being a very small crew and just shooting at home i had to get on my food styling hat quick food styling tip for you if you're shooting cereal or something that requires milk you can actually use pva glue that way you can set up the perfect shot style it exactly how you want take your time to really craft it and the cereal won't go soggy it looks awesome just remember not to eat it so myself and the bear jam team spent a lot of time in february preparing for a live event which we delivered for rybita the event was hosted by davina mccall and we called in people from all over the country to join in in a live workout a cook along and a panel discussion so we had multiple crews in multiple locations which as you can imagine took a fair bit of planning but the day before um i was told that my daughter actually had a positive covert test so the whole family had to isolate but because i'm lucky enough to have a brilliant production team behind me at bear jam we had a contingency plan that we were able to put into place so tristan had to cover the shoot he took my place i stayed at home i was then able to dial in and direct certain aspects of the shoot the livestream went off without a hitch i was able to watch from home and get back to my home schooling so if we're shooting at 25 frames a second the shutter speed should be 50. okay february also saw us working with a brand new client historic england so historic england approached bearjam to produce a recruitment film for them to promote a role that they are recruiting for so we whipped up little voice over led animation using some of their existing photography so it's going to be really interesting to see how that performs over some of their more traditional job listings next up last but not least another project for usana and the gut health doctor so we headed over to a studio to film the gut health doctor dr megan rossi delivering a presentation to camera to check in on the shoot and oversee things we set up a video call for the usana team who are based in the us could dial in monitor progress and feedback live as we were shooting so that's it for february i hope you've enjoyed the vlog we've just won a really exciting brief for the uk doping authority and we're moving quickly into production to create that film for them which i will share with you in the next vlog no doubt but in the meantime that's it from me um spring is springing boris has set out a road map things are looking up um all i need to do is sign off and wish you a good march and remind you to do more videos you
